This piece employs a 12-tone row that I pulled from a 4th-semester dictation packet from a class I recently taught. I don't usually write using 12-tone methods, but recently I've found I quite enjoy it. It forces a composer to focus on expression, gesture, and motivic development more than on actual notes. It's a really fun and intriguing method.
