Hornucopia Cornucopia: A Harvest of New Music for Horn Quartet

Description: A recital by the Hornucopia Horn Quartet, comprised of founding members Benjamin Garrett, Tate Wadsworth, Gaby Monroy, and David A. Jones. The program will feature exciting 20th-century repertoire alongside new works and arrangements by David Jones and Ben Garrett, including the world premiere of Jones's new steampunk-inspired work, Great Lumbering, Mechanical Monstrosity. Come enjoy this cornucopia of thrilling music for horns!
Mabuhay! A Celebration of Filipino People, Music, Language, and Culture

Description: Join us as we celebrate the joyful, resilient spirit of the Filipino community here in Oregon and throughout the world. Produced by dynamic composer, hornist, and singer David A. Jones, the program will feature music by Manila-based composers Alexander John Villanueva, Felipe de Leon, and Ryan Cayabyab, poetry by José Corazón de Jesús, Alejandro G. Abadilla, and Lettie Cowman, and Jones's own music inspired by his experiences living and serving as a volunteer in the Philippines. The event will feature performances by Raymund Ocampo, Amelia Lukas, Catherine Lee, Michelle Maynor, Kai Rocke, Rebecca Stager, and members of the Filipino Bayanihan Center's Filipino Jam Band.
Golden Scenescapes: 20th- and 21st-century Music for Horn and Piano

Description: Experience the playful storytelling and vivid scene-painting of Austrian-American composer Ernest Gold in a rarely-heard sonata for horn and piano. More well-known for his work in the film industry, including the scores to works like Exodus (1960) and It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963), Gold's lesser-known concert works are filled with soaring, delightful melodies and colorful harmonies.
Gold's Sonata for Horn and Piano will be performed by composer-hornist David A. Jones, who will also present his own Sonata for Horn and Piano. Jones will be joined by pianist Rebecca Stager. This recital is presented by the Willamette Valley Horn Academy as part of its new Hornucopia Recital Series.
Children under 12 are FREE.

Hornucopia: A Horn Quartet Recital

Description: The debut recital of the newly-formed Hornucopia horn quartet. Led by Benjamin Garrett, the quartet is composed of Salem-area hornists David A. The program will include original works and arrangements by Ben Garrett, a set of classic quartets by Alexander Tcherepnin, and a collection of jazz-inspired "Fripperies" by Lowell Shaw.

Description: Cascadia Composers is excited to announce the Portland debut performance of dynamic composer, French hornist, and singer David A. Jones, joined by pianist Rebecca Stager. Come join us for an evening of new vocal and instrumental music by Cascadia Composer members! The program will feature the world premiere of Jones's Isang Punongkahoy ("A Tree") for voice and piano, with text by Filipino poet Huseng Batute (José Corazón de Jesús). Jones will also present his Sonata for Horn and Piano and works by Ken Davies, Ryan Hare, Lisa Neher, and Walter Saul.

Description: Tubes, Keys, and Strings, a new music ensemble comprised of composer/performers David A. Jones, Theo Chandler, and Jake Sandridge, performs new works for horn, clarinet, and piano written by members of the ensemble and fellow Shepherd School of Music composer Patrick Lenz. This event, funded by the Sviatoslav Richter Grant for Music Outreach, aims to introduce young music students to contemporary music and give them an insider's look into the process of composing a new work.

Description: WindSync partners with the Boniuk Institute for Religious Tolerance Arts of Tolerance Program to present a concert that unites musicians of different ages, styles, and neighborhoods across Houston. The program features the young string students of the Houston Youth Symphony Coda Music Program, string quartet Invoke, and musicians from Rice's Shepherd School of Music performing Jones's newly commissioned work, Spires, for tenor and string quintet.
