The Troll

Mixed Ensemble

This piece depicts the troll from the classic Norwegian folktale, "The Three Billy Goats Gruff." It was written to be part of a larger work depicting the whole story, in the style of children's theater, though the rest of the piece has yet to be completed. The instrumentation (clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, violin, bass, and percussion) and style of this piece are modeled after Stravinsky's "The Soldier's Tale."
